Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am Daria Amaranth, photographer from Saint Petersburg. I find inspiration in cinematography, painting, music, literature, psychoanalysis.
How and when did you get into photography?
About three years ago I realized that I was very interested in photography not only as a viewer. I started with capturing reality surrounding me but soon I understood that I prefer staged photography: I like the opportunity to create a completely unique story as if a movie or a painting.
What drives you to take pictures?
Emotions, feelings, everything touching and expressive, this special state of mystery inside that can be visualized. Photography is a kind of meditation and passion at the same time.
Which photographic style do you feel yourself more confident with, if any?
I create fine art and fashion photography with conceptual elements but I also can see my works as emotional confessions.
Who are some of you favourite photographers past or present?
Francesca Woodman, Diane Arbus, Deborah Turbeville, Sarah Moon, Tim Walker, Paolo Roversi, Alexandra Von Fuerst, Luca Anzalone, Uldus Bakhtiozina…
What camera, lenses and other equipment are you currently using?
Canon 1000d and Pentacon f/1.8 50mm
